November 2013

We will be having a busy month ahead…

Please remember that VPK hours are from 8:30-11:30 and every minute counts! It is a policy that we start promptly and need every child here be 8:30 am. Playground time is part of our curriculum and we have activities that coincide with our outdoor time.

We have started growing our garden by turning the soil, planting and watering the seeds, mulched the planters and weeded them too! Our lettuce and squash are developing nicely. The children are taking time to water and care for the garden and love to check on the growth.

We have also made flowers planters by recycling half gallon jugs and painted them out hanging on the fence on our playground. A lot of times it may look like we are playing, but there is a lot going on!

Letters this month are Q, G, S and we are also reviewing for the last week’s ones.

Parent conferences are on the week of Nov. 11th .  Please see sign up sheet on top of the cubbies. If unable to attend. please let me know and we can schedule another time.

Nov 22 is 3′s and VPK Thanksgiving Dinner. Children will be cooking the entire meal. we will need volunteers to help prepare the food on Nov. 21st and Nov. 22nd.  Also needed are helpers to decorate the hall with placemats and  center pieces  that children created. We will also need items donated for the feast. Please check  our sign up list and RSVP for those who would like to attend.  Lunch will be served at 11:00 am.

VPK is not in session on the week of Nov. 25-29.  Although we are open Monday through Wednesday and will still have learning activities, VPK will not be funded for that week. If you  child comes, the cost is $66 for the week. If your child is not here and you do not have vacation time , the cost will still be $55 . Your child must have been enrolled for at least six months in order to qualify for vacation time and we must have your request in writing.
