February 2014

This month’s units we are exploring Traditional Tales, Cowboy and Cowgirls, and two weeks of Travel.

The letter of the months are K, A, V and M.

Thank you for all the recycled materials. We have already started with some of our activities with the recycling. Keep your eyes out for our colorful bird feeders made from milk and water jugs. Our fish will be swimming on by soon from two liter  bottles and we can’t forget our Valentine mailboxes created from empty cereal boxes. A big thank you for all of the help!

Looking ahead to Valentine’s Day we will be celebrating in class. Please help by either purchasing or making Valentin cards with your child. Please have your child sign their cards – a few at a time. On the outside of the envelope, please only have your child write their friends name. During our class party your child will get to distribute their cards to their friends “mailbox”. we are practicing reading friends names, so this step is very important.

Please also see the class sign up sheet for items that we can use for our party or for the month of February.  If you would like to send a goodie bag or trinket home for the other students, please feel free.

The second VPK assessment have been completed and results were placed in your child’s  folder. I am very happy with everyone’s progression and the children are continuing to come in excited and learn something new every day or practice what we have already learned. If you have any questions regarding your child’s VPK assessment, please feel free to speak with us.

Just a reminder: “Show and Tell” is on Friday.

Please remember for all day students SHUMPS will be closing at 11:30 on Friday February 21 st .

As always we enjoy you sharing your children with us.
