Children at this age are continually curious about the world around them. They are busy exploring their environment and learning to communicate thoughts. They are also learning how to play and interact with other children and adults as we encourage and support the development of self-help skills and independence preparing the children for school readiness in all areas of academic and social learning.
Our three-year-old program is designed to promote learning through play in our dramatic play area, building with blocks, science, literature, art, math, music, manipulative center and computer center. The children will recognize letters and discriminate sounds, calendar (months, days of the week, seasons), answer open-ended questions, sort items by colors, similarities and differences, shapes and sizes, play with peers, counting in order and recognize numbers, play with sand and water and will have the opportunity to experience with sounds and music. A huge emphasis is placed on your child’s spiritual knowledge and growth. Every Wednesday chapel is held in the church sanctuary by SHUMC Pastor. Children learn how to worship through singing, bible stories, and prayer.
The children will be introduced to a variety of lessons throughout the year. The thematic lessons include: My World in Autumn, My World in Winter, My World in Spring and My World in Summer.
Each classroom has a daily schedule posted in a designated space for easy reference by parents and/or staff.
