Two Year Olds

Children who participate in this program must turn two prior to September 1st of the current school year. We  focus on provide a loving, caring environment that builds trust with the child and their family, facilitate children’s independence and social and self- help skills, develop and assist in language acquisition.

The daily schedule includes: circle time when they begin to learn letters and associate the letters with sounds, learn colors, gross motor and free choice play, group time with songs and stories, snack, and art, writing and math. Toys and learning materials are organized on shelves which children can reach by themselves to help them learn  to make choices and develop special interest.  Making the materials  accessible helps them develop independence, self-confidence, and also to learn responsibilities for putting their things away when they are finished.

SHUMPS helps children to develop a basic Christian understanding and respects each family’s Christian beliefs. Teachers teach basic concepts such as: God where the children learn how much God loves them and loves the people; Jesus and who he is; church and what we do and learn at church;  bible and the meaning of that special book and the different stories that it has; family concept and the importance of the family; self where we emphasize how important they are and what they can do; community where they learn that they are part of the community and we help each other; God’s creation where children learn about what God made and how God provides food for people and animals  and about world and different cultures and that God loves everybody in the world.

The children will be introduced to a variety of lessons throughout the year. The thematic lessons include: Learning About Myself, Enjoying My Family and Others, Exploring my World, Discovering Animals and Plants and Experiencing Summertime.

 

Daily Schedule

Each classroom has a daily schedule posted in a designated space for easy reference by parents and/or staff.
